Equip new full-time employees with new skills or upgrade skills of current full-time workers at risk of layoff. Up to $2,000 is available for each new job or up to $3,000 in rural counties. Jobs must pay at least $12 an hour with employer-assisted medical benefits.

Customized Training
As the name implies, customized training is simply tapping our creativity, expertise and vast array of available resources and partnerships to develop customized training, which often work best for both the employer and the employee. Qualifying businesses that agree to pay at least 50 percent of the cost of training future hires may benefit from a combination of On-the-Job training and classroom education, which could include a variety of occupational or basic skills training such as those needed for specific certifications, computer or workplace literacy and more. When both a worker and the job meet specific conditions, current employees who are not earning a self-sufficient wage may also be eligible for training support. Registered apprenticeships combine on-the-job learning with related technical instruction and are a proven strategy for maximizing skills. More than 250 employers, associations and labor unions have registered apprenticeship programs employing over 1,200 apprentices.
